Former Mass Comm student helps change man’s future

Today Jeff Mizanskey, sentenced to life without parole for pot, walked out of a Missouri prison a free man after serving 20 years, thanks in part to Eric Sykes, a former student in the Mass Comm Dept. Eric produced a documentary for Kaleidoscope as a class assignment in 2013, which focused on Mizanskey’s plight, urging a pardon from Governor Nixon. The Department gave Eric an achievement award for his work, which involved interviewing Mizanskey at the Jefferson City Correction Facility. His doc has received 80,000 views on YouTube, and as of today, Jeff Mizanskey is free.
