St. Louis Blues Announcer John Kelly to Appear on WSIE’s Segue

St. Louis Blues broadcaster John Kelly will appear on WSIE-FM’s Segue program at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 25. Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Greg Budzban, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, hosts the weekly public affairs program on FM 88.7, The Sound.

An SIUE Department of Mass Communications alumnus, Kelly (’82) discusses his career preparation and experiences at SIUE, as well as his exciting tenure in the National Hockey League (NHL). A St. Louis native, Kelly transferred to SIUE from a local community college with deep ambition to pursue a career in broadcasting.

Kelly eventually followed in the footsteps of his father, legendary Blues broadcaster and NHL Hall of Fame member Dan Kelly, into the Blues broadcast booth.

John Kelly discusses his career path, the evolution of media and its impact on the NHL over time, the growth of the league, his approach to broadcasting and makes some predictions, too.

Tune in to WSIE 88.7 FM every Sunday at 9 a.m. as weekly guests discuss issues that affect SIUE’s campus, the City of Edwardsville and the Metro East.
