Faculty updates from Summer 2016

Dr. Baasanjav and Dr. Li presented papers to the Annual Conference of the International Communication Association, a premier conference for media research communication.  The conference was held in Fukuoka, Japan. Dr. Baasanjav presented paper titled Affirming language diversity rights in international domain names to to the theme session of the Law and Policy Division, and Dr. Li presented paper titled “From Propaganda to Realism and Humanism: The Three Phases of Chinese Photojournalism, 1942-1988,” at the History Division of  International Communication Association.

Dr. Hicks was interviewed by the National Geographic Channel. The feature focuses on sex in advertising and the hypersexualization of culture in the new series, Original Sin.  Topics discussed on issues related to advertising and how sexual content has changed in advertising, highlighting the impact on the world and popular culture. The series will air on the National Geographic Channel on Friday, August 26th, in over 170 countries worldwide.

Dr. Jason Yu presented his peer-reviewed research titled “Advertising Skepticism Effects on Chinese Consumer Attitudes toward Green Ads: A Mediating Role of Consumer Attribution of Green Advertising Motivation” at the 99th annual conference of AEJMC in Minneapolis, MN.

Dr. Poepsel appeared on a panel session at the AEJMC, discussing reciprocal journalism.  He also spoke on his dissertation research and entrepreneurial experiences as well as his fellowship with DigitasLBi marketing. DigitasLBi is a global marketing and technology agency that transforms businesses for the digital age.
