Professor Undrah Baasanjav was awarded a Summer Research Fellowship of the American Center for Mongolian Studies. With the support of the ACMS, she completed a field trip to her hometown Ulaanbaatar, and explored opportunities and challenges for public interest services in Mongolia during the transition of television from analog to digital. In 2001, as a graduate student, Dr. Baasanjav interned in the Digital Television Department of the Public Broadcasting Services in Virginia, when television stations in the U.S. were transitioning to digital. After 14 years, Dr. Baasanjav observed this process in Mongolia and is now writing an analysis of the digital transition process in Mongolia.
